Canadian scientists recognized by international award for significant medical discoveries

May 24, 2017 – Two Canadian researchers are among the winners of this year's Gairdner Awards, which recognizes some of the most significant medical discoveries made by scientists around the globe.

Dr. Antoine Hakim of the University of Ottawa and Dr. Lewis Kay of the Toronto Hospital for Sick Children (both in the Canadian province of Ontario) are this year’s winners for their contributions to the scientific community.

Gairdner Award winners have been known to go on and win Nobel Prizes, as well as other prestigious awards for their work.
