Halifax start-up aims to make study permit process easier for international students
October 5, 2017 – Three international graduate students in computer science at Dalhousie University (in the Canadian province of New Brunswick) are the founders of a chat bot that will answer international students’ questions about the study permit application process using Facebook Messenger.
Time zone differences can make it difficult to speak to someone on the phone and meet deadlines for applications, says JeyaBalaji Samuthiravelu, one of the 3 founders who are all from India.
The chat bot will learn the ins and outs of Canada’s study permit applications, and then be able to answer applicants’ questions in real time.
