Northern Ontario School of Medicine maintains perfect streak in matching grads to residency programs

September 4, 2019 – For a decade now, the Northern Ontario School of Medicine (NOSM) has managed to maintain its title as the only medical school in Canada with a 100 percent success rate for matching graduates to Canadian residency programs.

"We've never had a graduate not matched to a residency program, and, in fact, in most years the whole class has been matched in the first stage," says Dr. Roger Strasser. “This perfect record suggests that the residency program directors of Canada want to have our students, our graduates in their program."

Even with the consistent success of its match records, NOSM recently decided to add a fifth year to its existing four-year program. This option allows medical students to complete further clinical training and increase their chances of matching for a residency in the following year.
