700+ short-term exchange scholarships in Canada for international students and faculty

February 10, 2021 – Global Affairs Canada launches its 2021-2022 Short-Term Exchange Programs. The programs have been expanded to target candidates from a wider roster of countries/territories, wishing to study, conduct research or undertake professional development in Canada.

Global Affairs Canada made the following changes to its scholarships programming for 2021:

  • The Canada-CARICOM Leadership Scholarships Program and the Canada-Chile Leadership Exchange Scholarship have merged with The Emerging Leaders in the Americas Program (ELAP) to create efficiencies. Applicants who were eligible for scholarships under these two programs remain eligible for ELAP and are encouraged to apply.
  • The Study in Canada Scholarships program is now a Short-Term Exchange Program with a new roster of eligible countries/territories.

Short-Term Exchange Programs continue to have the shared goal of promoting partnerships, student mobility and research collaborations between Canadian and non-Canadian post-secondary institutions.

Interested candidates should contact their home institution’s international office to learn about partnerships and student exchange agreements with Canadian institutions, which would enable their participation in the programs. Home institutions will then provide the eligible candidates’ documentation to their partners in Canada.

Canadian post-secondary institutions must submit scholarship applications on behalf of students, faculty and/or staff from eligible countries/territories by March 30, 2021. Only applications submitted directly by Canadian post-secondary institutions will be considered.

For full program and application details, visit each scholarship program’s guidelines page.
