From Canadian dishes to classrooms: International student stories

This year, EduCanada wanted to hear directly from international students. So, we did what Canadians do best—shared a meal and great conversation over some iconic Canadian dishes!

Our five international students discovered special Canadian treats while sharing their stories about studying in Canada.

We hope you enjoy meeting them as much as we did. Which Canadian food would you want to try first?!

Romina

Meet Romina. All the way from Mexico, she now calls Ottawa, Ontario home. Completing a Bachelor of Arts in Film studies at Carleton University, she hopes to work in film production.

Alexandra

Say hello to Alexandra from Côte d’Ivoire. She is completing a Bachelor of Health Sciences at Queen’s University in Kingston Ontario and hopes to one day become a doctor.

Sebastian

Introducing Sebastian. From Colombia to Calgary, Alberta, Sebastian studied Communications and Media Studies at University of Calgary. He now works in student recruitment.

Shoumik

Get to know Shoumik from Bangladesh. He came all the way to Memorial University in St. John’s Newfoundland and graduated in Physics and Mathematics. Shoumik now works for the International Recruitment Office while pursuing his Master’s in Scientific Computing.

Lanre

From Nigeria to Dartmouth, Nova Scotia, meet Lanre. He is currently studying Avionics Engineering at Nova Scotia Community College. Between bites of Canadian snacks, he shared how studying in Canada is helping him prepare for his future.
