From Spain and Vietnam to Canada: Paula and Minh’s high school experience

Hello, my name is Minh and I'm from Vietnam.

Hi, I'm Paula. I'm from Spain.

My name is Kevin Dueck. I'm principal of Westwood Collegiate from Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada.

I love it here because the teachers are willing to help me in my education and I can play sports like almost all the time in school.

I thought it was a very good opportunity for me to learn English, learn another culture, and make new friends.

Well, the advantages of studying in Canada would be having access to a world-class public school curriculum. There's an amazing amount of choice in arts, in athletics, in advanced placement in first year university type of courses.

I choose this school because of the dance program. It's something that I wanted to keep doing when I came to Canada.

I love living with my host family because they teach me everything about Canadian culture and they are trying their best to make sure that I feel comfortable in their home.

The qualities international students need to succeed would be open-minded, willingness to expand and build on their English skills, but also just an an openness to learning Canadian culture, meeting Canadian students and willingness to foster those relationships.

Being in Canada has made me absolutely more confident than I was in Vietnam.

International students should come to Canada because there is a lot of opportunities and it's really fun and you get to learn a new culture.
