Dr. Jafar Soltan from Canada
testimonial • 2024-2025 Faculty Mobility for Partnership Building Program Awardee

"Through funding from the Faculty Mobility for Partnership Building Program, I had the opportunity to spend approximately one month in August 2024 at the Universidad de los Andes in Chile. My primary engagement was with the Faculty of Engineering and Applied Sciences, where I contributed to research and both undergraduate and graduate teaching modules in Environmental Engineering, focusing on the removal of micropollutants from water using advanced oxidation processes.
This program was instrumental in advancing my international research and training initiatives. As a direct outcome, I invited my research collaborator from Universidad de los Andes to the University of Saskatchewan through the USask Global Ambassador Program. This visit helped expand our academic networks.
Further collaboration is already underway. With support from the Emerging Leaders in the Americas Program (ELAP), a visiting PhD student from my collaborator’s group will join my lab in January 2026 to conduct part of his doctoral research.
This experience has laid a strong foundation for long-term academic collaboration and has significantly enriched both our institutions."
