Starting January 1, 2026, Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) has made Canada even more accessible for graduate students from around the world:
- Master’s and doctoral applicants at public designated learning institutions no longer need a provincial or territorial attestation letter (PAL/TAL).
- Doctoral students (and their families) are eligible for priority processing of study permits, allowing them to begin their studies sooner.
- Your family can apply to come to Canada with you, to visit, study, or work.
- Master’s and doctoral applicants at public designated learning institutions are exempt from the international student cap.
