Foreign Government Awards Program – Global Korea Scholarship for Graduate Degrees

Description

The Government of the Republic of Korea, through the National Institute for International Education (NIIED) , is offering four scholarships for study or research at the Master’s or PhD level in Korean studies, humanities, social sciences, natural sciences, engineering, and other fields of study. Scholarships are tenable from August 2022.

Scholarships for study in South Korea are tenable only at universities that are on the list of eligible universities designated by the National Institute for International Education (NIIED). Applicants must choose a field of study that is included in this list. To consult the list, visit the 2022 Global Korea Scholarship (GKS) for Graduate Degrees Application Guidelines .

Duration and eligibility

Scholarships are tenable for:

  • up to two years at the Master's level plus up to 12 months for language training (if necessary); or
  • up to three years at the doctoral level plus up to 12 months for language training (if necessary).

Application process

Applicants must complete the 2022 GKS Application Form for Graduate Program and provide the supporting documents as requested by the March 15, 2022 application deadline. Applicants are required to submit the application form and supporting documents listed below to the following address:

Background

The Korean government has provided scholarships to 6,556 international students from 148 nations since 1967, and supports approximately 2,000 students annually.

The Global Korea Scholarship for Graduate Degrees is designed to provide higher education in Korea for international students with the aim of promoting international exchanges in education, as well as mutual friendship between participating countries.

This year, the Government of the Republic of Korea will offer four graduate level scholarships to Canadian candidates for study in South Korea under this program.
